Cyberpunk 2077’s Latest Patch Fixes the PC Save Size Problem
Cyberpunk 2077’s latest patch has fixed the save size issues that was making PC players lose their progress.
Prior to the latest patch, Cyberpunk 2077’s PC version had a potentially progress-crushing bug. When a saved game file got bigger than 8mb, the save file and potentially the rest of that player’s saves, would become corrupt, rendering them useless.
Not everyone would hit this bug before reaching the end of Cyberpunk’s 2077, but the more items you crafted the more likely you were to run into it. CD Projekt Red’s original response was oddly noncommital, stating simply that “the save file size limit might be increased in one of the future patches”.
Thankfully, they’ve done the sensible thing and removed the 8mb save limit size which means that, going forward, players shouldn’t run into the bug. Unfortunately, if your saved files have already become corrupted and you didn’t have a backup, you’ll still have to start again.
CD Projekt Red are still looking into why the game’s save files get so big (a problem that affected the PS3 version of Skyrim) but for now, you can head back into Cyberpunk 2077 without worrying you’ll be booted out of The Matrix.
