How to Fast Travel in Horizon Forbidden West
Being set in such a large open world, chances are you aren’t going to want to travel everywhere in Horizon Forbidden West by foot.
The good news is that you don’t have to. By overriding certain mechanical creatures you can then use them as mounts, allowing you to get around the world quicker. Even better, however, Horizon Forbidden West features a fast travel system that you can make use.
So, how do you fast travel in Horizon Forbidden West? It’s simple. Just open up the in-game map via the touchpad, place your cursor over a fast travel point, and then press R2 to initiate fast travel. You’ll be asked to confirm, then away you go. Alternatively you can instigate fast travel from a campfire.
Campfires are actually pretty pivotal to fast travel in the game, as they form the backbone of the fast travel points available. There are many of them spread across the world of Horizon Forbidden West, and you’ll need to activate them on your travels if you wish to use them as fast travel points later. You can also fast travel to select other locations though, such as Tallnecks that you’ve overridden.
There’s just one thing to consider when fast travelling – resources. While it’s free to fast travel to another location from a campfire, instigating fast travel from anywhere else will consume a fast travel pack. Run out of fast travel packs, and you won’t be able to fast travel willy-nilly. You can buy more fast travel packs, however, and craft them via the Hunters pack (hold down on the d-pad) using 10 Ridge-Wood and 3 pieces of wild meat.
